My Vegan Journey

In July of 2017, my mom and I were bored and trying to find something to watch on tv. It was getting kind of late so we figured we would just throw something on. We had both heard of the documentary, “What The Health”, and just turned it on. It was pretty interesting in the beginning so we kept watching it. All of a sudden, everything being said about how the food we have today affects your body all made sense to me. My family has a huge history of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and all the other nasty things, so I’ve always tried to be pretty healthy. When this documentary discussed how in only two weeks a vegan diet can reverse the growth of cancer cells, I was sold. (I’m terrified of cancer if you couldn’t tell already). Once the documentary was done, I decided I had to be vegan. I didn’t want to put another steak or piece of cheese in my mouth. My mom and I ran to the store to grab some “vegan food” to have for the next day even though it was pretty late. Since that day I have been vegan. It has been about a year and a half now and I don’t regret it. This was the best decision I’ve ever made. Starting out as a vegan is very challenging. I had no clue what to eat during the first couple of months. It was a slow process of learning what I liked to eat, what I could eat, and what was just plain disgusting (many things on this list unfortunately). Being vegan has become a part of who I am and I don’t plan on going back any time soon. If you have any questions or if you’re thinking about going vegan leave a comment below!
